McDonald’s R&B Soul Search winner is…

kristin3.jpgThe McDonald’s R&B Soul Search wrapped Friday night at the Loft, with Kristin Stimage taking the prize for her a capella rendition of Oleta Adams’ “Get Here.”

Stimage, who wasn’t at all considered a front runner in the singing contest, managed to pull out a surprise win in the super-tight contest. When her name was announced, she fell to the floor and cried.

Stimage won a one-time contract with Sony, and recording time with Phat Buddha studios. She’s the first female winner in the three-year-old competition.

Stimage scored 175 points out of a possible 200 from the judges, which included a Sony rep. First runner up Sieglinda Fox scored 172 points, and second runner up Bernard Jefferson amassed 171 votes.

It should be a lesson to all that if you believe you can do something you can…against all odds. Kristin really was not a front-runner…AT ALL. There was a lot of great talent this year that fell off because of egos and poor song choices. I hope they get it together before the opportunities completely dry up.

Hell naw…she wasn’t a front runner…she was more like a out-from-nowhere and I-would-have-never-thought-she-would-even-remotely-win runner. I actually thought that she was, actually, horrible. Did you get my point here, she was ok, at best…maybe. Don’t get me wrong, I applaud her for taking to the stage and singing in front of strangers and up for critique but dang…shouldn’t she have been at least good? There were far better performances and singing last Friday at the Loft then what she gave. The woman, who blew on the Jennifer Holiday/Hudson classic–I am Telling You, was off the chain and should have won. Judges–what were you all thinking? I believe Kevin was the only one who did not praise Stimage’s singing during the judges’ comment section. Oh well…but it seems that Stimage’s night did not end so well after all. I personally witnessed her crash into some sort of parking pole on the back parking lot as she and her crew departed–to pinch themselves over her win. Yes it was true–you won but you also crashed on the lot. Hopefully you will experience better luck in the studio. Nevertheless, congrats to Stimage and all who performed!

Personally I think St. Louis is full of haters. I want to take the time to say that everyone did a great job and it was a very close contest. People fail to give credit to others when they aren’t there friends or family members. Ms. Stimage was the last female to sing and if I can quote the judges they stated ” the bar has been raised” so it was clear to them who did the best…I want to commend her on her win it has been long overdue and I’m sure with her amazing voice we haven’t heard the last of her….LOTS OF LOVE…Also Noone is Exempt from A Accident!!

I could not agree more with Nene as she congratulated Ms. Stimage on her win. I did too! But I also just shared my personal opinion which I continue to hold true for me, she was not the best singer of the night and certainly not of the contest. To reiterate my last line of my original comment: Nevertheless, CONGRATS TO STIMAGE and all who performed!
