“Acoustic River” CD flows into Sheldon Concert Hall
“Acoustic River,” a CD produced by the Sheldon Concert Hall, takes a special look at various aspects of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.
The CD, featuring traditional and original river songs, features Mike Marshall and Chris Thile, John McEuen, Kathy Chiavola, Lydia Ruffin, Dave Toretta and Connie Fairchild, Darrell Scott, Mark Holland, Pete Huttlinger, Peter Mayer, John Higgins, Tom Hall, and Dale Benz.
The Sheldon’s Benz, who contributed to the CD, said: “A river can be turbulent or tranquil, but it is always moving to become one with the ocean. More than a lake or even the sea, an ever-changing river makes us ponder this passing of time and think about our lives, fostering a diversity of thoughts and expressions.”
“Acoustic River” CDs are available by donating $100 or more to the Sheldon Arts Foundation.

100 bucks for a CD, really…..good luck with that
They must be marketing this to the Ladue/Frontenac crowd…
Everyone knows only rich people listen to this kind of music, come on!
hey Terry-JJM-Mike,
man you’re right, $100 for a CD is pretty high though I prefere to look at it as $8.40 cents a song. so perhaps i’ll break it down. here at the sheldon we rely heavily on donations and sponsorships in order to survive. it’s the non-profit way of life. we thought it would be pretty cool to give something back to those good folks who support us thru their generous donations. hence the CD. yes the ladue/frontenac crowd supports us but so does the south st. louis crowd and the webster/kirkwood crowd and those in between. with our 40+ regular season concerts (jazz-folk-classical-blues-gospel-world music sort of thing), a multitude of class art gallery openings (which are free by the way), 42 educational concerts for kids, 55 Notes From Home concerts (features local musicians, the Music For Lifelong Achievement project, (providing music instruments for kids less fortunate) it seems that $100 doesn’t go very far. but it really is a great CD.
peace
Dale
