I have never heard of Merle Gill or Vince Hazzard. Who has? That explains why they are playing in Arnold. Country has been dead since Buck Owens passed away. Where did our country and western heroes go? Red Simpson, C.W. McCall, etc. Oh well. At least Dolly Parton is still on her game.

Vince Gill is an important artist in country music. He writes, sings and plays guitar. His box set \”These Days\” is some of the best music to come out of Nashville in a really long time - thoughful, soulful and not produced within an inch of its life. It\’s a shame that country radio put expiration dates on artists. If you aren\’t pounding on the drums or sounding just like the person on the radio before your song, then you just don\’t get played anymore.

louis18 you apparently have a very limited knowledge of country music. Red Simpson and C.W. McCall and great entertainers, Haggard is a hall of famer and Gill (not sure about him) but if he isn’t he will be before long. Haggard is legendary in the Bakersfield sound. His deuts with Leona Williams and George Jones, along with numerous others are among some of the best ever. Songs like “If We Make it Thru December”, “Today I Started Loving You Again”, “Mamma Tried”, “Okie From Muskokee” are a few of the songs that help establish him as one of the foremost country singers of this or any other time. Vince Gill Started by playing with a couple little known bluegrass groups, then started playing fiddle, banjo, guitar for Pure Prairie League and did some vocals. He has written numerous songs for other artist, such as Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Dire Straits, and Patty Loveless, and for himself. Songs such as “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “Pocket full of gold”, ” When I Call You’r Name”(with Patty Loveless) “,”Look at Us”. He has won several Entertainer of the year awards, and song of the year awards. So louis18 bedore you start making comments about “Legends” take time to find out who they are and what they have done before you start to judge. Thank You!
