Coco Soul and Javier Mendoza, two of the leaders on St. Louis’ R&B and Latin rock scenes respectively, are teaming up for the first time for Summer Fusion, a fundraiser presented by the Young Friends of the Independence Center.
It’s Aug. 24 at the newly completed Independence Center, 4245 Forest Park Avenue.
Cocktails begin at 5 p.m., with dinner by Jimmy’s on the Park and music starting at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $40-$45, with proceeds going to the Independence Center.
Mendoza, by the way, has been newly named to open for pop singer/Broadway star Idina Menzel Aug. 1 at the Pageant.
Coco Soul recently celebrated the second anniversary of her R&B open microphone event Café Soul at Lumen.

I would have loved to see this concert! I saw Javier perform once at the Pageant and thought that he was a great performer. He connects very well with his audience.
…and I can’t say enough about Coco Soul! Her vocal talent is such an untapped source; I can’t WAIT for the world to experience what St. Louis has in Coco! Kudos to their teaming up for the Independence Center!
