Slew of parties making July 4 even hotter

As if Tim McGraw, John Mayer, Joss Stone, and Anthony Hamilton in town all at once wasn’t enough to keep you busy this weekend, there’s also a number of holiday parties unfolding.
– Party With a Purpose, the after-party for Hamilton, is at 10 p.m. Saturday at the Skybox, 800 North Third Street. Your $10 admission benefits the United Way. Hamilton is not expected to appear at this party.
– SYGU and LME are hooking up to present the For the People party, with the tagline “celebrate the holiday with the best ‘political’ party in town.” The party is at 9 p.m. Thursday at Fi5teen, 1900 Locust Street. It’s free before 11 p.m. with an RSVP to www.lme-stl.com or www.sygugroup.com.
– Occasional party Swagger is at 10 p.m. Thursday at Nectar, 2001 Locust Street. The party mixes style and cocktails, with an open bar featuring Jack Daniels cocktails from 10 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Music is by DJ Kue. Admission is free for women before 11 p.m., and $5 for men before 11 p.m. Email info@koncepts-stl.com to get on the attendance list.
–The enduring 1st Friday’s next event kicks off at 9 p.m. Friday at Lush, 3037 Olive. Charlie Chan and Reminise spin, and general admission is $15 before midnight (women free before 11 p.m.). Go to www.1stfriday-stl.com for information.
–A special edition of the Best Damn Friday Night Period is the Red, White and Blue Party, Friday night at the Skybox. Who would ever thought the STL could offer so much in one weekend. Who needs Chicago on the Fourth? Well actually… but thinking of all the parties this holiday weekend has to offers raises this question Kevin: whatever happened to THE POWER COUPLE? Have they already turned into the biggest flop/over-hype of the year? This seems to be a perfect weekend for them to show us what they have to offer but then maybe the competition is too steep–particularly with proven winners such as those you mentioned already in the mix and doing the game well. I thought THE power couple was billed, by others and you, as the next best thing to hit STL. Have they done anything since their bit at the Moolah? It does get hot in STL and you know what they say you should do if it gets too hot…
