Music sales continued to fall during the first half of 2008 — no surprise there. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great time for new music, songs and concerts.

In no particular order, here is the music that moved me most January-June, though I wonder how many of these names will hold up by year’s end.

And don’t even think about looking for Usher, Leona Lewis or Panic at the Disco on any of these lists.

Which albums, songs and shows made the biggest impressions on you?

Yeah…the lack of “Dave Matthews Band at Busch Stadium” seriously calls this list into question. What the heck!?!

Ms STL’s BEST

cd - Lil Wayne ”The Carter II” - not my favorite but it was the best

song - No Air by Jordan Sparks - I’m really feeling her

concert - SUPER JAM, that was a classic and coming in second would have to be Jill Scott & Raheem DeVaughn

The Story of the Year show made the list and any one of the three Wilco shows didn’t? Seriously? Again, Jeff Tweedy and the boys get no love. I understand that everyone has their opinion, but come on! The Wilco shows were legendary, Story of the Year is eventually bound for a where are they now type VH1 show. How you guys keep overlooking one of the greatest songwriters and performers of his generation, especially since he is from the area defies all logic! It’s no wonder the entertainment section of this paper carries no credibility whatsoever. It’s bathroom reading at best!

Rib Fest. All bands, all at the top of their game. ‘Nuff said.

Where’s Wilco? Their three-night stand at the Pageant was unforgettable. Their music, energy, and amazing talent were transcendent. And, Jeff Tweedy was definitely feelin’ the love in his hometown. It’s disappointing that our local media don’t embrace one of the best bands in rock ’n roll.

love the raheem, coldplay albums, but i think that the new raul midon album “a world within a world” and the new NERD should be on that list as well. i somewhat agree with that cool kids below, but their new mixtapes are much, much hotter. sadly, erykah badu’s album was sort’ve a disappointment for me. :(

the NERD & jill & raheem concerts were extra HOT…..

Why not Santana at the Scottrade in April? With Derek Trucks opening it was a killer show.

If this was an OBJECTIVE assessment than the Return to Forever gig at the Fox last month would win HANDS DOWN. I mean, c’mon! Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Al DiMeola & Lenny White could wipe their butts with everybody else on these lists, Dave Matthews included . . . and that’s not a subjective personal opinion: IT IS AN OBJECTIVE FACT!!!

Shouldn’t NERD’s song be EveryONE Nose, not everybody? Don’t they have some sort of fact check for this kind of stuff? and I agree with the outrage of leaving off dave matthews at busch.
