Well-known St. Louis Cardinals fan and actor Billy Bob Thornton has taken his love for the baseball team one step further, recording “I’m Watchin’ the Game” with his band the Boxmasters.

The song, from his band’s self-titled new album, is about a man wanting his girl to leave him alone while he’s enjoying the Cardinals’ game on TV.

The best things to be said about the song - it’s not a complete disaster, and the vocals far outweigh the production and lyrics.

Thornton will perform the song and others at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Vintage Vinyl during a free set in advance of his larger show later at Ameristar Casino. Thornton will also sign autographs at Vintage Vinyl. Get information at www.vintagevinyl.com.

The Bottleneck Blues Bar at the Ameristar in St. Charles concert is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $30-$35. Get information at www.ameristar.com/stcharles.

Is Billy Bob righty or lefty? Cards might need bullpen help tonight with Pineiro starting.

Don’t give Tony any ideas, Mike.
