City Style bringing out St. Louis’ fashionable men

kev2.jpgIf I’d known wearing short-short ties and True Religion jeans would get me a full-page display in a certain St. Louis glossy mag, I might have given up both months ago.

The modeling game is not for me.

Alive magazine chose me as one of the city’s best-dressed males and put me in its current men’s issue (I know it’s crazy, but thanks!)

This is something I would’ve never imagined in my 21 years working as a journalist, mostly spent as a music critic.

The shoot took place during an especially hot day a few months ago in a downtown loft. I was decked out in Marc Ekco and Affliction clothing chosen by Alive’s Jill Manoff. Kudos to her for nicely picking fashions based on my own personal style, and to photographer Tuan Lee for that keeper of a photo.

Though on one hand it was cool having a stylist and makeup person fuss over me, it was also unnerving, especially in the studio where about a dozen staffers were present, with all eyes on me.

I know my role, and this definitely wasn’t it. I much prefer staying in my lane, but am grateful for this out-of-the-box experience.

Other men chosen for the issue were Arnold Donald, Brad Boyes, Chris Long, Jacob Laws, Mike Bush, and Nicholae Bica.

City Style: A Men’s Event, the accompanying party for the issue (of course there would be a party) is at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Sky Terrace at the Four Seasons, and will feature a Macy’s men’s fashion show and a Solique women’s lingerie show.

A $10 suggested donation benefits Food Outreach.

They failed to mention that St. Louis native Jon Hamm is on the cover of this “men’s style” issue. He is also up for some Emmy noms for his new show MadMen on AMC, you should check it out- he’s hot right now!

I think it was definitely an honor for them to recognize you for your style of dress. Its very eclectic, versatile, and fashionable…a style of your own! The person that picked your outfit for the photo shoot did a great job because it looks like something that you would pick out for yourself as well. Nice pose by the way! I see that watching all 10 seasons of Top Model has paid off in a GOOD way for you…lol…just teasing! See you at the party!

Get ‘em, Kev! LOL! I think you did a great job, but I do understand the idea of knowing your lane and staying in it.

You rocked it! The pose…too funny to me but so YOU…the perched lips and downward glance–all the way you! Too bad they didn’t feature your short short tie look, it again, is you. But really, Sergio’s? Did you really wear those? Thank goodness the jeans have evolved to now include True Religion. Keep styling ‘em Butch.

You have unofficially held this title for years. It is about time they made it official. I will make sure your biggest fan sees this.
