Concert announcement: FoxyFest at Forest Park

Radio station WFUN-FM (Foxy 95.5) is bringing in old school funk staples the Dazz Band and the Bar-Kays for the station’s debut R&B/soul food festival, FoxyFest.

It’s Sept. 13 at Langenberg Field near the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.

Dazz Band is known for funk classics such as “Let It Whip,” “Joystick,” and “Let It All Blow,” while the Bar-Kays’ hits include “Holy Ghost,” “Move Your Boogie Body,” and “Shake Your Rump to the Funk.”

Local artists will be provided by Cafe Soul.

Gates open at 3 p.m. Sept. 13 for the free event, and soul food and BBQ from area businesses will be sold.

I’m so glad that you put a pic and named a few songs because I swear I was thinking, “who and what do they sing”. I needed the extra clues on this one. What is this, Super Jam for the over 35 crowd…I can get with this one for sure. Wait a second…FREE.

When you say soul food and BBQ you know you need to give me some names I can recognize.

If you don\’t know anything about the Dazz Band or The Bar-Kays, or rely on radio to know what good R&B/Funk is, that\’s your fault. Hurry your behind out and get some funk in your system.
