Concert announcement: Lil Wayne and Murphy Lee at Chaifetz
Rapper Lil Wayne, whose current CD “Tha Carter III” sold over a million record-breaking copies its first week out, will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 30 at Chaifetz Arena at St. Louis University.
Murphy Lee is also on the bill, and more acts are expected to be announced.
Tickets are $40-$200, and go on sale at 11 a.m. Saturday at MetroTix outlets, www.metrotix.com, 314-534-1111, and at the arena box office.
In a statement, Global Spectrum’s Mike Scanlon, general manager of Chaifetz Arena, said: “We’re delighted to host such a talented artist with quite the devoted following like Lil Wayne. Whether it’s Lil Wayne, Barry Manilow or the Harlem Globetrotters, Global Spectrum will continue to bring a diversity of entertainment options to Chaifetz Arena for everyone in the St. Louis region.”
Chaifetz Arena’s first concert was Manilow in April.

Exciting! But why such a short timeframe, from announcement to ticket sales to concert. I guess with such a following, an assumption is that all the devoted cash-money-want-to-be-millionaires out there in STL will have no problem paying upwards of $200 to fill Chaifetz.
The album is hot though, that’s for sure. I am not typically a rap fan but I can’t get enough of the album. I just wish I were a STL baller so that I could a ticket TOMORROW! Can I go with you Mr. Music Critic?

I could care less about Lil’ Wayne but the Post continues to get this wrong. The name of the school is Saint Louis University not St. Louis University as it is named after the Saint and not the city. It doesn’t matter what the AP Stylebook says about the abbreviation for Saint because you can not abbreviate a proper name. Would you abbreviate Smith & Street to Smith & St? Get it right!

Wayne coming to StL??? My prayers have been answered! A few weeks is all that Weezy needs to sell out a show. Why waste money marketing far in advance when it’s simply not needed. Weezy is serious about his money and I will most definitely be helping him make it. Carter III is the most heat I’ve felt in a while. What can I say, I’m a Weezy fiend, and I’m gonna support my habit. CIII!!!
BIG SURPRISE folks–Manilow is going to be a surprise guest at the concert and do a very sexy duet with Li’l Wayne–let’s just say that Wayne will play the role of “mandy” for the song
$200 for Lil Wayne, Really? For those rushing to buy Lil Wayne tickets I hope they make sure that the kids all have the proper school supplies FIRST and the bills are paid before anyobdy spends $200 for Lil Wayne.
