McDonald’s R&B Soul Search winner off and running
McDonald’s R&B Soul Search winner Kristin Stimage is one step closer to making her dreams come true.
Her win guaranteed her new demo, professionally recorded at Phat Buddha, would make its way to Sony, where she received a one-time contract with the label.
Stimage recorded a trio of songs she’s sending off to Sony this week in hopes of it taking her career to the next level.
She dropped by the Post-Dispatch Wednesday so I could evaluate her music before it got to Sony. We sat in her SUV and she cranked up the volume on the three songs, while she excitedly sang over her own tracks.
Here’s my take, followed by her take, on her three cuts:
“Keep It Movin”
A hot, upbeat track that’s the most commercial of the three, and the one with the obvious hit potential. The catchy song sounds like something Keyshia Cole would record.
“That’s the one everyone’s going to like,” says Stimage.
“Just Enough”
My favorite of the batch. It’s funkier and more sultry, though it doesn’t grab you as immediately as “Keep It Movin.”
“That one just has that funk, that groove I like to represent,” adds Stimage.
“I’m Tired”
An easy-to-grasp slow jam that again sounds like something one can imagine Cole singing.
“I think the ladies will feel it. I’m speaking to the ladies. I hate to call it a ballad though,” she says.
Good luck to her. More information on Stimage is at www.myspace.com/mskrissstl
