“Weird Al” prepping “multi-media extravaganza” at Family Arena
Kevin C. Johnson

Comedians can be pretty unfunny off stage, probably wanting to save their schtick for where it matters most, on stage. And that was certainly the case in my recent interview with “Weird Al” Yankovic.

During our chat, he was the ultimate straight man, a strange alter ego to the goofball we know so well, such as that seen in his “White & Nerdy” video.

Yankovic plays Family Arena in St. Charles Friday, still promoting his “Straight Outta Lynwood” CD. Tickets are $23.75-$48.75, available through MetroTix.

“It’s a high-energy rock ‘n’ roll show. But in addition to it being a rock ‘n’ roll show and a comedy show, it’s a multi-media extravaganza. There’s a bunch of costume changes and video projection going on. My drummer calls it a Broadway production,” he says.

Check out the full interview with Yankovic in Thursday’s Get Out section, and online at www.stltoday.com.
