Find your way to Chesney, Journey concerts at Verizon

map3.jpgGetting into either the Kenny Chesney concert Thursday night or the Journey concert Saturday night, both at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, is likely to be no easy task.

Both concerts are at the brink of selling out, which means traffic is going to be nuts.

In an effort to lessen concert-goers’ impending frustrations in getting into the venue, concert producer Live Nation wants fans to “Know Before You Go,” providing a friendly map offering different routes to get into the venue in hopes of avoiding congestion.

You wouldn’t want to miss Miranda Lambert (subbing for LeAnn Rimes) at Chesney, or Journey’s opening acts Heart or Cheap Trick, right?

Ticket information for the concerts is at www.ticketmaster.com or 314-241-1888.

This little blurb should also warn concertgoers about navigating their way OUT of Verizon/UMB/Riverport/whatever after the show. Be prepared to wait upwards of 2 hours. We spend 1 1/2 hours after the Radiohead show waiting to get out of parking. It’s poorly designed and the kids directing traffic with orange flags had no idea what they were doing. I hope that because it is much later in the season, they have a better grasp of this now.

One more little note: If you have a verizon phone you (and 3 friends) can get in before the rest of the crowd. Go 30 minutes before the doors open and wait in the verizon line. VERY nice if you have lawn tickets….

It seems to me that traffic gets worse and worse every year for getting to/from the amphitheatre. Just goes to show how terrible of a location that place was built. I hit the Vans Warped Tour every year and other than that I refuse to go there unless it’s a really good concert.

We got there early last night… traffic wasn’t bad. They let you bring in food, so we grabbed a table and ate our sandwiches from Subway. Still had to buy the beer, but having our own food helped. What a show! Couldn’t believe how late he played. Since we got there early, we were parked pretty close to the gates. Was out of the lot in a few minutes by going right towards Page Ave Extension. Wasn’t the nightmare some people on this site had me believe it was going to be.

Ed…I’m with you. I’ve always though getting out, not getting in, was the real issue.
