Word on the street leading up to rapper Lil Wayne’s concert Saturday night at Chaifetz Arena at St. Louis University was terrible.
It ranged from the idea he was in rehab and would miss the show to talk he’d only perform three songs.
But in the end, Lil Wayne gave fans a memorable night, for the right reasons.
The New Orleans rapper’s full, hour-plus set included “Lollipop,” “A Milli,” “Got Money,” and “Mrs. Officer” from the year’s top-selling CD, “Tha Carter III.” He also delivered “Fireman,” “Tha Block is Hot,” “Back That Thang Up,” “Love in This Club” remix, and “Leather So Soft,” on which he played a bit of guitar.
Rapper Birdman joined him for “Stuntin’ With My Daddy” and “Pop Bottles.”
St. Louis rapper Murphy Lee opened, and was aided by Nelly and the rest of the St. Lunatics on “Shake Ya Tailfeather.” Other songs during the set included “My Shoes,” “Air Force Ones,” and “Stepped on My J’s.”
Why do we detect a real sneakers thing going on with the St. Louis crew?

Um…o.k. I hear but I’m still not a fan of Lil Wayne and not sure if that day will ever come. And maybe I’m wrong but I think the My Shoes record is about car wheels!
LOL…I tend to agree with you, Ms STL. Tha Carter III is the 1st cd of his that I’d ever purchased. While several of his tracks are on point in terms of the arrangement, vocals, etc…I sometimes wonder if even he has any idea what he’s saying. He tends to go on senseless rants for my taste. He is definitely an entertainer though.
does it bother anyone that the kid can’t sing?
weezy is best rapper alive & he`ll be………
just fu*k dat hearters.
I think wayne did a good job on the new record as far as getting his 3 or 4 singles set and then focusing the rest of the cd on subjecs that matter to him and matter to hip hop. “Dr. Carter” talks about all of what rap has been going through in the new millenium with washed up, un-original rappers. This cd is defiantly a new kind of style for weezy, the first thing i thought of when i heard it all the way through, was kanye west. I liked the cd for givin me some real, true wayne, Carter 1 & 2 are where its at, and any of the Hot Boyz stuff. In my opinion wayne is defintly the best in the mainstream rap game right now… but thats not sayin much considering the bullcrap out right now, im hopin to see the game get alot better real soon
they need too stop hatin on lil wayne cause he can rapp And for all the haterz that be hated they mad so wayne do your thing1!!!!!!!! from your # 1 fan
