Cafe Soul’s new performance series starts Friday
R&B open microphone event Café Soul is ushering in its new performance series “In the Spotlight” Friday night at Lucas School House.
Café Soul’s Nichol Stevenson says the idea is to give overdue recognition to some deserving artists. “We want this to be a platform to get their music out there, give them a chance to expand,” she says.
“We really want to spotlight those artists who are out there hustling and grinding,” she adds.
“In the Spotlight” acts for the October-December Cafe Soul will perform a mini-set during the monthly event.
– McDonald’s R&B Soul Search winner Kristin Stimage, Friday
– The return of female group Tiorah, Nov. 21
– Singer-producer Bradd Young, Dec. 19
Admission is $10, doors are at 8 p.m., and more information is at www.myspace.com/cafesoulstl.

I hadn’t planned on going but I don’t think I can miss out on Ms. Kriss…she always puts on a great show and I was impressed once again by her vocals when she opened up for Avant on Monday. Better go see her now before she leaves St. Louis
