What’s really wrong with Janet Jackson?
Janet Jackson fans, including this one, have been wondering why the the pop diva is missing so many of her concerts on her new “Rockwitchu” tour.
Jackson has postponed or rescheduled more shows than she has actually performed on the tour, which is scheduled for Oct. 24 at Kansas City’s Sprint Center.
The Sept. 27 show in Detroit was postponed to Oct. 28 because of production constraints. The word was her show and Celine Dion’s show at the same venue were scheduled too close together, not allowing time for proper set up and break down.
Since then, Jackson’s fans in Atlanta, Greensboro, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, and Ft. Lauderdale have been left holding onto their tickets after she has postponed shows in those cities, sometimes at the last minute.
Each of those postponements, most of which haven’t been rescheduled yet, involved Jackson taking sick days off for an unexplained illness that landed her a brief stay in the hospital.
Since no illness has been named, speculation is running rampant regarding what’s going on.
Guesses include everything from a pregnancy to her suffering from vertigo to poor ticket sales (Jackson, whose “Rhythm Nation” tour was the biggest debut tour ever, isn’t pulling the numbers she used to in concert arenas or with CD sales)
Hopefully Jackson will recover soon and get back out there to waiting fans.

MarQ,
Dude. I, like you, LOVE me some Janet and will defend her almost any day. However, when it’s over, it’s over. PERIOD. No one is challenging her success or her status in the music history books–she has earned it all and her name is forever etched and cemented appropriately so for whatever FIRST and MOST SELLING accolades she has…HOWEVER…it’s over. PERIOD. She should consider herself incredibly fortunate for having a 25-year run. Go home and chill while her fans still love her and defend her so fiercely.
Do_IT_Diva, I’m glad you are a Janet fan as well…But I don’t know if you got what I was trying to say in my last message. I HIGHLY doubt Janet is doing anything to try and set a record or to be on top.. She is doing it because she has a PASSION for music and dance.. It’s called entertainment, and she likes to entertain.. So if she performs to a crowd of 30,000 or 3,000 if that is what “she” wants to do, and the “ones” who want to see her do it, then let “them” enjoy it….
I have NEVER EVER understood how people can say someone should stop doing their passion. No one tells and old actor or actress they should stop acting when they get a certain age. If Janet, Tina, Madonna, Rollling Stones, AC/DC, U2, Aerosmith, Prince and anyone else who has a PASSION for something let them keep doing it till they can’t NO MORE.. No one tells Maya Angelou she shouldn’t write anymore. It’s always musicians, and it seems it’s REALLY black artist that get hit harder than any about needing to stop. And us black fans that do it to their own, we don’t support!
My point is if u like to do something do it. Regardless who supports you. Because if one doesn’t like it, their will be another one that will. And if it make you happy, do it till you cant anymore.

Passion. I get it and endorse people following theirs. However, in an industry which is fueled by the dollar, passion can only go so far. Add to it, pride and ego and my guess is that passion takes a back seat quickly. Janet is use to success, she has had difficulty selling out second-tier cities and her record sales have been far less than stellar so her pride and ego is surely bruised. Madonna, Tina, the Rolling Stones, U2, Prince and the others you mentioned, unlike Janet, have had no problems selling out major cities. Janet just ain’t the same, with and without her passion. Not to mention her forfeiture of her appearance fees.
Janet,
If you’re pregnant, say it. Your most adoring of fans will bask in the news of a bun in that oven.
If you’re sick, say it. Fan support and love goes a long way through getting one through an illness.
If some lacking ticket sales has anything to do with it, well, shame on you.
Hopefully this is all just a bump on the touring trail, and things will be up and running again really soon.
ok. i love janet and lets put some sense into it. Take for example Greensboro, ticket sales 6000 times an average price 100 dollars. That is 600,000 dollars take for that show. Does anyone think that one janet show costs more than that????????????????? The girl is making her money. She is sick and when she is better she will figure out what to do.
why call it quits when you can still make millions of dollars in tours?? so far 53,000 people have gone to see her show and by the end of the tour maybe 100,000 to 150,000 people would have seen it(only 6 shows in)…lets say she is making 20 dollars per person after expenses(yeah right)..that is over 1-3 million dollars profit for a 24 show run. i forgot to add tour merchandise.
As a businessman, i would tour all year long….i probably change the venues next time around (save on cost) Keep touring and keep making the money. Love you janet
janet is an icon
let’s stop with all these speculations
i saw her in oakland and the show was awesome
get well soon, janet!
