Hagar turns up the music during two Pageant shows
Sammy Hagar rocked the Pageant for two nights Tuesday and Wednesday, and it was in the name of charity, benefiting Blessings in a Backpack.
Over the two nights, which boasted different set lists, Hagar deftly mixed classics with songs from his new album “Cosmic Universal Fashion,” Van Halen gems, and covers.
Here’s how it went down the two nights:

Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
I am little surprised Sammy did not play any Thanksgiving songs. The Pilgrims continue to be overlooked at this time of the year, unfortunately. I hope the Blues and Rams at least ask fans this weekend to give the Pilgrims a hand. I am not asking for Massassoit to drop the puck or Squanto to sing the national anthem, but before you know it all the songs will be about Santa and the Pilgrims will be in the background before you know it. I did see where Tom Turkey is making some appearances in St. Louis, so that is a start. Sammy has a good heart but he erred in not at least giving a shout out to the Pilgrims.
linky - did you smoke something with Sammy after the show? Thanksgiving songs? Appearances by Tom Turkey? It was a Sammy Hagar show, not Barney. Yikes!
Here, here!! linky needs to lay off the pipe!! It’s the Red Rocker, not Tom Turkey!
I think there is some merit to what Linky is saying. You have all these artists cashing in with Christmas CD’s and everyone has a fourth of July concert or festival, but no one rallys behind Thanksgiving. Sam Hagar had two nights to get it done and obviously didn’t care or didn’t think about it and I don’t know which is worse. The last artist to pay homage to the Pilgrims was REO Speedwagon with the Flying Turkey Trot. That was more than 30 years ago and even REO basically blew it by rewriting it later as the Flying Tuna Trot, so all the Pilgrims got was maybe one year in the limelight. I did not expect Metallica to stop their show and ask everyone to give thanks to the Pilgrims but I could see Sammy taking one minute out of two shows to give a shout out to the Pilgrims or Tom Turkey or whatever. Maybe next year, I hope. I just think it is a good point.
Sammy? yawn….. I can’t (won’t) pay 99 Sambo. you can keep your overpriced tequila and your expensive ad campaigns, eh, i mean, live performances, to your merry band of pretentious 3-chord rockstars. nothing but false promises coming from Sammy the clown. it is all a bit tiring big guy…meh…
Yeah- I use to be a huge Sammy Fan.. He use to be so cool, humble and really care about his fans especially his St. Louis Fans. I can’t believe he charged $99 to see him perform. I heard some of the proceeds were going to charity but why force the true fans in STL to give to charity??? Why didn’t he put on a reasonably priced show and ask for donations??? He could have done more for charity that way! What a real let down!!
I thought sammy rocked both nights, the $99 dollars was not charged by him, but his promoter. That said all the proceeds went to his charity backpacks to help the city schools
out of the potential $400,000 take for both nights, I doubt if 5% actually went to charity. More like “STOCK THE BAR(S) WABOS, LETS PARTY, THESE FOLKS IN SAINT LOUIS TOWN WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING, ROCK AND ROLL, WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!”
Sammy’s promoter is Sammy, get it? Blessings in a Backpack doesn’t even acknowledge Sammy (Who?) on their website. Ya think $400,000 would get you a sponsor link or something?
Waicool-
Agree 100%.. The amount of lies Sammy has told STL is incredible… Let’s see:
1) Busch Stadium Concert
2) Cabo Wabo was suppose to be built here a couple years ago
3) In a KSHE Interview- was considering a free concert under the Arch
.. oh and the latest is suppose to be Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill to be built over at Harrahs.. bet that’s another tall tale as well..
