Best Rock/Pop CDs of 2008:

ok for real, where is Metallica and Disturbed? those tw cd’s were hot! TV On the Radio, it took me a minute to get into them but i dig them! Vampire Weekend over Duff. will peep Death Cab and Kings.

Best R&B CDs of 2008:

wouldnt mess with this list, only to put Big Brooklyn Red or Sy Smith on the list.

Best Hip-Hop CDs of 2008:

interesting list. i would have ranked Q-Tip ahead of Kanye, Luda would have been in the top 8 and Nelly (the brother is hell cool) doesnt even get an honorable mention. Jean Grae, Murs or Little Brother should have made this list over Lil Wayne.

thanks for keeping us TUNED on the music this year! we will be looking forward to more in 09!

That John Legend album is atrocious. Bland, bland, bland with a crappy falsetto to boot.

Really duffy? That album was mediocre at best. Adele’s album was far superior if we want to talk about young british female singer/songwriters.

I agree with Copa’s ranking of Q-Tip over Kanye. A few of Kanye’s tracks are hot on ‘808’s and Heartbreak’, and the project as a whole gets points from the conceptual perspective (a little heavy on the synthesizers, but the arrangements are hot); what throws me off about Kanye is that oftentimes he says things that simply make no sense, and that just irks the HELL outta me…that last track where he’s singing live about Pinnochio is like nails to a chalkboard to me! Q-Tip on the otherhand stayed true to hip-hop with the old-school feel of ‘The Renaissance’, and by the end of the last track I find myself wishing that he’d put 5 or 6 more tracks on it.

I’m a little surprised that Common didn’t make the cut, even as an honorable mention for Hip Hop. I’m also surprised that Robin Thicke didn’t get a mention on the R&B list (I know that I’m partial to the old-school feel, but that was a solid album). I’m still trying to get Brandy’s CD, but so far to no avail.

Readers,

Adele CD — just missed the final cut. I enjoy her..especially her single.
Robin Thicke CD — Good, but not nearly as good as his debut. He is another one who just missed the cut.

Both of their singles make my Best Song list Tuesday, however.

Common — It is listed under top hip-hop CDs, and wasn’t even a sure thing there. For us true Common fans, this just wasn’t top-shelf Common.

Vampire Weekend — Good, but didn’t move me as much as it did others.

Fleet Foxes — Good, but enjoyed them even more live.

Danity Kane — Really? Are they even still a group. Horrible to me.

John Legend — Why so much hate lol.
