Names such as Isaac Hayes, Bo Diddley, Eartha Kitt, Jerry Reed, and Levi Stubbs were rolled out during the Grammys’ In Memoriam segment but no LeRoi Moore, the longtime saxophonist of the Dave Matthews Band who died last year.

Dave Matthews Band fans are outraged.

Did Grammys’ In Memoriam montage make a shocking omission in leaving out LeRoi Moore?

It’s the Grammy’s people. They are a joke. Anyone who place any value on their judgment need serious mental health. Never forget that Milli Vanilli won a grammy.

I must have missed the montage and now I’m wondering if they missed LeRoi Moore if they also failed to mention founding Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton. And I’m sure that it was much too recent, and even if it weren’t, that they surely would not pay homage to founding Cramps lead singer Lux Interior who passed away just last week.

As long as the great singer Mike Smith of the Dave Clark Five was mentioned, that’s all I cared about…

To answer your question Zac: yes, they failed to mention both Ron Asheton and Lux Interior. I was pissed to see both of these great musicians omitted while they let “punk” Green Day be presenters. While punk might be on the outskirts where we want to belong, we should not forget who put us there. R.I.P. Ron and Lux

Who still bothers to watch the Grammys? The music groups and individuals I like most are never mentioned, much less given awards. Isn’t this just part of that? Thanks, and now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Grammys are about pop music, and are not necessarily about good music. Since Lux Interior and Ron Asheton both died this year, they may include them next year in a montage of those who died in 2009. I’ll be truly shocked if they do. Ron and the Stooges have been snubbed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Lame about six or seven times now, in spite of their influence on hundreds, if not thousands, of rock bands, including huge stars like Nirvana.

And LeRoi Moore is not a recognizable name to most pop music fans unless they are Dave Matthews fans. So I’m not surprised the Grammys omitted him this year. Sad.
