Smashing Pumpkins is the latest major act reaching out to the public to find its latest band mate (and diehard Pumpkins fans such as myself groan slightly and collectively at this stunt).

Auditions will be held April 10 in Los Angeles to find the next drummer for the Chicago band.

Background information, photos, and performance web links should be sent to pumpkinsdrummer@gmail.com.

Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin recently exited the band, which reunited last year for a tour.

On his blog, Chamberlin wrote: “I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don’t fully possess. I won’t pretend I’m into something I’m not. I won’t do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can’t just, ‘Cash the check’ so to speak.”

Give me a break! Didn’t they hire Kenny Aronoff do a few tours with Smashing Pumpkins a few years back? Who’s Kenny Aronoff? If you don’t know, you’re probably not a drummer ; ) I’d probably try out, except I can’t stand their music…

Yes - they did hire Kenny Aranoff in the late 90’s when Jimmy Chamberlain quit (or was booted) and they did one record without him. I was thinking the same thing - why not get Kenny again!?!?
