Poll: Billy Joel and Elton John or Elton John and Billy Joel at Scottrade?
St. Louis sold out tonight’s Billy Joel/Elton John concert at Scottrade Center, no surprise. The pair is a hot commodity, whether billed as Billy Joel and Elton John or Elton John and Billy Joel.
And depending on what city you live in, it could be either. In St. Louis it’s Billy Joel and Elton John. That means John’s solo set will go before Joel’s solo set, and Joel’s name is up first in advertisements.

Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
Same difference. Both are rock and roll greats with a slew of hits. Having seen both artists before, I’d give Elton the slight edge in live performance. Enjoy the show STL!
Elton John rocks!
I have to give both of these gentlemen their due as recording artists but as ivory ticklers, they’re middle of the road. You want the real deal, you go to Gregg Guifferia of Angel, Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep, Neal Doughty of REO Speedwagon, Roger Boyd of Head East, Gregg Rollie of Journey, Rick Wakeman of Yes, Dennis DeYoung of Styx and the finest of all time, Jon Lord of Deep Purple. If you brought all of these guys back on stage for one night, you would need a hall bigger than the Ed Jones Dome. But to answer your question, I would take Billy Joel over Elton John.
Hmmm….. A Catholic Bashing, foul mouthed, ill tempered, zionist jew or an ugly, vindictive, self-centered, repulsive, homosexual? That’s a tough choice.
Well, I like them both a lot, I have more Billy Joel albums, but Elton is just as good. They both have their ups and downs, I will give a slight edge to Billy Joel, since he actually wrote his own lyrics.
louis 18, you just listed some of the worst bands in the history of recorded music and hmmmm..you’re a typical St. Louis idiot.
I personally think that there is no greater hand in history to touch a piano than Elton John’s. But thinking logically, I’d rather him come out first, because by the time I’ve had a couple of beers and need to excuse myself, Billy Joel will be playing, and I can stand to miss a couple of his songs. That said, I can’t WAIT for tonight. Long live Sir Elton!
Tie between Billy and Elton. They both gre-aaaaaaaaaaat!!Hmmmmm-I guessed you perfer the old school rock piano pluckers like Jerry Lee Lewis or Little Richard.
A great big fat “NEITHER!”
Finally, something for the old folks.
