Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
Kevin,
I was there last nite w/ very good seats in row L about 10 feet from the center stage. This was my fourth Paisley show. He never fails to impress, not only with his guitar picking, but he’ll play nearly non-stop for two hours w/o a break.
This is the first time I’ve seen him start to cover someone else and then lead right into one of his own tunes. i.e. Life’s Been Good.
There were a couple of songs I wish he would have played such as Mr. Policeman where his guitar picking is really showcased. Don’t get me wrong, he can flat out play.
Only complaint I have is I should have seen him after his upcoming CD release at the end of the month. Not knowing what’s on a new CD you sit thru a concert trying to pick up on the lyrics and the melody trying to figure out if you’re going to like it or not. I noticed during his new tunes the crowd was just listening along intently instead of getting into the music as they did when he played one of his standards. In the end it was another great show.
I was at this concert it was amazing. It was the first time I had ever seen Brad Paisley. We got a tickets the day before the show, and we had great seats, probably 15 rows back from the stage on the left side. I really enjoyed the “new” music he played, and I made sure to run out and buy his new album when it came out. I would say without a doubt “American Saturday night” is his best album yet, it will easily produce 5-6 hits. My only complaint about this article is #1 there was more than 12K people at this concert, it was pretty much sold out, and #2 the setlist is wrong, He played “Welcome to the future” off the new album as well, and I dont remember a song called “Beer”.
