Ginuwine hits No. 1 with St. Louis-recorded CD
R&B star Ginuwine and St. Louis record label Notifi Records have done it.
Ginuwine’s new “A Man’s Thoughts” CD, recorded locally for Notifi and distributed through Warner Bros., sold 38,000 copies its first week out, good enough for a No. 1 showing on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop list, and a No. 9 on the overall Bilboard 200 chart.
In a statement, Notifi Records chief Ira DeWitt said: ”I hope that the concentration Ginuwine and I put into the music makes it enjoyable for his fans for years to come. It makes me incredibly proud that my small independent label has earned a #1 R&B album on our very first try.”
The CD features the hit single “Last Chance.”

Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
there are alot of contemporary RnB acts with past success who have been yanked around by their major labels that could benefit from the attention a small imprint like this could provide…DeWitt and Notifi should seize this opportunity…
congrats to Mr. Elgin Lumpkin and Ms. DeWitt on a really good record…
