Rapper Nelly is back on the airwaves with a new single, “1000 Stacks.”

The track also features Diddy and a sample of Notorious B.I.G. It’s from Nelly’s upcoming CD, his representatives tell me, his followup to last year’s “Brass Knuckles.”

Nelly was previously featured with Diddy and Notorious B.I.G., along with Jagged Edge and Avery Storm, on “Nasty Girl” a couple of years ago.

I like “1000 Stacks,” and hope Nelly’s able to reestablish himself with it.

Check out the song above.

What do you think of “1000 Stacks?”

It’s always hard to judge on the first listen, but I say it’s OK. I don’t think it’s a huge hit, but could be popular.

It’s horrible, best part is Biggy. Beat is watered down and too electronic sounding. Nelly’s singing rap style sounds played out on this song. The “tell em Puff” part is corny and has no edge sounds like rap pop music or something. Nelly is relying too much on this manicured image and it shows on the mic. He needs better word play with more grit and street appeal.

Sounds like the same old old, he was best when he kept giving us something new, reinventing himself ie; Pimp Juice, Over and Over Again. IMO

The song is okay. I mean, give me the Nelly back in the early days of 2000. And where is Jay E nowadays…

With all of the illegal downloads by guys, basically hip hop sales are driven by women and teenagers who spend a large amount of their disposable income on music and they prefer danceable tracks, which is reason Puff tries to make fun hip hop dance music like a modern day C and C Music Factory. Here’s the problem, hip hop is still street and needs to be edgy with a don’t give a f@#k attitude. Hip Hop was born from pain which gave it is authenticity, like the blues. The quandary is the fact the boom period Hip Hop generation fans are 30 somethings now with kids reminiscing about the late 80’s and 90’s when hip hop sales were exploding. So artists are trying to make the transition by looking and acting more mature while still having a young swagger, this is very hard to do sometimes. This is the only reason that I came up with why Nelly is doing so many collaborations with Pop artists.

My advice, define your niche brand and push it to its limits being mindful not to jump on every trend as they occur. Smalls tweaks over time are easier to do than massive overhaul or reinvention.

So in simple terms – “do you” and stay true while being open minded and don’t lose yourself.

Nelly great attributes

Colorful
Energetic
Loyal
Smart

I not sure if Nelly can just grab a mic and rip a verse like he use to do. He really doesn’t need other people on his tracks when he is on point. He should talk about Cutlasses, Saints roller rink, Fairground park, red hot Riplets, Vess soda’s, etc. In reality Chingy is a much better lyricist, even though he has still own image issues.

This song has a catchy beat and hook. The people who purchase albums don’t care how much street credit a song has. Smart move by Nelly!

I completely agree with NATURAL BRIDGE RIDA. Chingy is a much better Lyricist than Nelly. I like the new song but Nelly’s first 2 albums were THE BEST step up ya game Nelly
