Poll: Concert ticket presales a must or bust?
There’s more than one way to nab a great seat for your favorite singer coming to town.
Purchasing tickets through presales are the way to go for many who want to get a jump on the good seats. We take a real inside look at that method of buying tickets in Sunday’s Post-Dispatch, in a story written by Diane Keaggy.

Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
The reason that I don’t like them is because it’s internet only and you have to pay a service charge, usually around $15. I just did this for Pointfest. I prefer to go to the venue the morning of the on sale date and get a number and wait in line because there is no service charge. However, with the presales alot of the good tickets are gone already by the on sale date. So, choice is get a better ticket at a presale and pay more, or wait and get a crappier ticket for less money.
Im not a fan of them only because the recent Taylor Swift concert when i went to get tickets for her on the day they went on sale to public it was sold out. I think when/if they do presale it should be just a couple hours and limit the ticket sales, this way you have some left for the actual day they go on sale. sometimes its not fair cuz when i went to look on other sites people where selling Taylor’s tickets for triple the price im like r u seriously kidding me this is BS
Pre-sales would be great if they meant anything … since nearly everyone can get in on a “pre-sale”, why bother having them at all?
I always use the Presale when buying tickets for 311. They are offered through 311’s website and they only have a limited number available. But they are the best seats (or PIT) in the house and they don’t tack on the extra service charges like LiveNation and TicketMaster.
Somehow I always get better tix when the tickets actually go on sale. I’ve wondered for years how the ticket selection actually works for presales.
I’m sorry. I forgot to comment. I was laughing so hard because dreastarr went to go see Taylor Swift. LOL
should be like the old days. get a line ticket, let them draw a number and that is were the line starts. non of this computor stuff. to many tickets end up at ticket hub or the likes….. as one poster said earlier. when the tickets go on sale to the general public its all ready sold out. These service charges are bogus also. Get rid of AEG and Live nation and get back to the independent Promoter so that ticket prices and the such go back down.
