Michael Jackson

Several Michael Jackson tribute events are unfolding in St. Louis.

– Hip-hop/soul DJ Needles, with his fellow Soulition DJs Reminisce, Enoch is Real, and Will Power, will spin Jackson tunes from 5:30-7:30 tonight at Vintage Vinyl, under the record store’s marquee.

They’ll mix up expected classics along with album tracks that didn’t receive the recognition they deserved. www.vintagevinyl.com.

The Loft and Café Soul’s Coco Soul are presenting a Michael Jackson tribute show from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday at the Loft.

Performing are St. Louis entertainers Nikko Smith, Bradd Young, Kristin Stimage, Justin Hopkins, Jeff Mak, Michael Fitzgerald, and more.

The event will be hosted by Tony Scott and Tammie Holland from Majic 104.9’s “The Tony Scott Show,” and is the kick off for Majic’s new networking party every Friday.

Doors are at 5 p.m., and admission is at 7 p.m. Free. Call 314-393-6340 for more information.

As always I see the same already outdated and unfunny troll comments plaguing this article and the same old arguments being made.

Luckily though, history and the majority of the world are remembering MJ fondly. I’m sorry, but you aren’t going to find anyone who didn’t have a dark history or questionable past, it has been shown time and time again that the greatests and most talented artists have also lead tragic and stressful lives.

I wouldn’t deny MJ’s contribution to music and his influence on the world, even if he was proven guilty of his molestation charges. Because facts don’t change, but I do support him (and would not if the charges were true) because there is such a high amount of reasonable doubt regarding those cases.

After one of the children admitted he lied about the molestation, I have no choice but to see MJ as innocent. I’m sure he had weird views and thoughts regarding the world and children, particularly because of his overabundant trust in the innocence of purity of children. I’m sure much of this has to do with his father and growing up in front of the media, he’s learned to trust the honesty of children far too much.

I also agree, sleeping in a bed with children is VERY suspect. Not quite sexual, but strange nonetheless. The guy was out of touch with reality in a lot of ways.

I still strongly stand by that he was innocent and am sad for his death because he didn’t die easy or happy, but glad to see him being remembered by the world fondly (even though it is the same media that made his life so awful) and leaving a positive mark on history. I really wish he was alive just to see everyone listening to his music, watching his videos, and the world mourning him.

Continue with your ugly comments trolls, there is a reason you’ve retreated to the internet to do so. Because everyone else isn’t listening.

I am not being racist when I say that those are not his kids. Those are the facts. Considering that he twice was imlplicated in child molestation I think it is relevent that he purchased/adopted/soragated 3 white children into his home and then got rid of the mother. Wouldn’t it be a molesters dream to get their very own kids to molest with no one to look after them.

Honeslty who knows. But really it is unfair to put these kids now with an 79 year old woman who let hear husband beat and menatlly abuse her biological children.

Yes…he was a great singer and I love thriller, beat it, billy jean and black or white…but was one messed up cat with a messed up family. There are much better role models for the black community.

check out the web site called http://www.deadmichaeljacksonjokes.com

lots of fun, there…..but why a tribute to Jackson? WHAT did he contribute to America, REALLY? THE FIRST MUSIC VIDEO? Is that REALLY a contribution?
Anyone who wants to continue to mourn Wacko Jacko should just play his music privately in their own cars and homes. The rest of us normal music lovers will still be playing our Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins as well as the King.

@ MO Milton

It’s funny, because you are intentionally naming a single accomplishment of MJ as the reason so many people are holding a tribute to him. He has done far more than simply make the first music video.

Try reading his Wikipedia page at least, he has forever changed the music industry, influenced almost every musical artist after him, crossed cultural and racial boundaries throughout the world, has donated millions to charity (more than any celebrity), and became the most successful artist ever.

Funny how you tell us “normal” music lovers to play his music in peace and isolation, because normal music lovers like Michael Jackson. You are the exception sir. We’ll continue to play his music in public and proudly, why don’t you shut yourself in?

Oh wait, that’s why you’re online doing this, nevermind.
