Tonight’s Six Flags concert canceled after fatal crash
Christian rock band MercyMe canceled a show Saturday night at Six Flags St. Louis after its tour bus collided with a car in northeastern Indiana, killing two passengers in the car and the pregnant car driver’s unborn baby, according to the Associated Press.
No one in the band was injured. A news story on the crash and a photo of the damaged bus were posted on the band’s Web site
“Please join us in praying for the families of the car that hit our bus last night,” the band said in a posting on its Web site. “Our hearts break for their families.”
Fort Wayne police Officer Liza Thomas said witnesses told police the bus was going through a green light about 1:15 a.m. Saturday when the car made a left turn in front of it. The band from the Dallas area had been in Fort Wayne for a Friday night show.
No injuries were reported on the bus, Thomas said. Two passengers in the car, a male and female, were pronounced dead. The car’s driver was in her third trimester of pregnancy and the baby died. The driver was hospitalized Saturday in critical condition, she said.
Police have not disclosed the names of the people involved the crash.
Six Flags, in Eureka, said MercyMe’s show had been rescheduled for Sept. 5. All concert tickets will be honored for the new date.

Kevin, this isn’t a slam on you, but on the P-D as a whole.
Why are there so many stories like this that say “according to KTVI” or some TV station? You are a newspaper, aren’t you? Shouldn’t you be covering and reporting these stories yourselves instead of just reprinting what’s on some TV website? To me, you lose all credibility when you say “according to (some other media outlet) instead of verifying the facts and reporting them yourselves. Have these details even been vetted or are you just reposting them without verifying anything?
Chris - I’m never one to defend the P-D, but in all fairness, this happened in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. You can’t expect the Post to drive 400 miles to take a photo of a bus crash.
My, my, my!!! Chris have you ever considered “Getting a Life”. I have seen some pretty sorry comments covering hundreds of articles, but this one of yours is right up there at or near the top. Yes Chris, please Get a Life!!
MercyMe, but no Mercy for you. I guess Christ had other plans for the band.
So much for your “god” and his greatness. Haha..
Really, you would think God would have helped out here.
why does everyone want to slam God when something bad happens? where was He, you ask? same place He was when no one cared enough to call out to Him when times are good. life sux, we can all agree on that. but this in not heaven, it’s earth and it’s going to be filled with happiness and misery. that doesn’t mean that God is not in control; He gave us all a free will. what we choose to do with that is your choice. but don’t go blaming Him when things don’t go your way. it’s funny how nobody wants God around until something bad happens. well, it’s not really funny…it’s actually quite sad. there is a God and He is good. i’m deeply sorry for the family that lost loves ones; i too have lost loves ones in a car wreck. but hopefully this tragedy can be turned into something good.
Thank you Lord For your Great love.
Lord we don’t understand why these things happen but we do understand that that you are God and that you love us more then we can even begin to understand.
Lord please be with each person that is affected by this horrible crash and do what you do best …bring healing.

Hey Tom and Stosh,
I understand your thoughts. I know where God was. He was watching with a heavy and broken heart as someone made a fatal error whilst driving. He cares with every part of His being. How do I know this? Because He was and is my comfort when my son, aged 9, died from a cancer. You know how you can trust someone with your life because you know their character and they have proved themselves honest and true? That is God. I don’t understand, but I know, without a shadow of doubt He is totally trustworthy. God bless you.
