Lupe Fiasco wrapped up, and rapped up, Live on the Levee’s final concert of the summer, following Sonic Youth, Little Feat, Angie Stone, Gretchen Wilson, and Guster.

Counting Crows and Train actually got the music going July 4 weekend.

It all went down on the Arch grounds, and the shows were free.

What sentiment best sums up your take on the Live on the Levee concert series?

I always really enjoy Live on the Levee no matter who is performing. Just being in a sea of people is always cool :)

nice variety of acts - you had pretty much something for everyone! i love that it’s down by the arch. next time do more to promote the fact that part of the vendor sales are going to charity (promote the vendors actually! - i went down there packing a cooler (i’m used to going to Verizon) so i and had to walk back to my car with it! the more you do to promote, the more people will come! next time include links to each band’s website in your facebook group pages - the more info the better! i went on word of mouth that Guster was gonna be a good show - I had no idea who they were! (it was great btw) tweet and post on FB well in advance about the upcoming events to promote them - not as they are going on. twitter and FB weren’t used as effectively as they should have been to promote the events.

the series had a good combination of different acts–from new york noise to “redneck women” to hip hop underground. Looking forward to next year!

A pale comparison to Fair St. Louis…

I really enjoyed Counting Crows the most. I know the music has to be mixed to suit all peoples taste.. I don’t like the concession prices at all..

I’d like to thank the sponsors for providing this free entertainment and fireworks each year.. Enterprise and Imbev, (sounds funny doesn’t it)?

Hope, I didn’t leave anyone out…. Thanks…

On the 4th the fireworks were great as always, fair grounds were full of people and Train performed on stage, probably the only performer of my taste of music worth coming out to see. There was food and drinks available and if you were looking for something more forget it. The few restrooms were stretched out on the far ends of the grounds. Families with children that were dragged there by their parents found little interest to do. I’m looking for the day again that we can bring back the variety of attractions that was worth remembering, like the barbecue competitions, Air show and maybe more vendors. People like to spend money for a good time for things other than food and drinks and only to hear just music.

I was glad to see it come back to the riverfront. I was a little upset that the rules for bring stuff in seemed to change from week to week. I understand that the vendors need to make money but some of the prices were out of sight considering that people are watching their money. You would make more money with a lower price that people could afford (not Busch Stadium, Edward D. Jones or Savis Center prices). I know what the mark up was on the sodas. I enjoyed the performers that were here this year. Please continue with this venue, but please reconsider letting people bring stuff in the venue. We still support the vendors by purchasing food but like to bring in our own sodas, water and gatorade. Families with small children cannot afford to pay $5.00 for a bottle of water.

Was only able to attend one concert - the last one with Lupe Fiasco. I LOVED IT! Or should I say I loved him…I love him…I love you, Lupe!! Anyway, great weather, nice crowd, good food and the fireworks at the end were the icing on the cake. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2010 - keep up the good work.

On a normal weekend, a free concert and firework show is great. On July 4 however, I thought it was a let down. This was my first trip to the Arch for the 4th and I can say I won’t return for future July 4 activities. I got there early in the day thinking it would be a day full of activities. Instead, there was absolutely nothing to do except sit in the heat and look at food vendors. I agree with the previous posters that the restroom placement was not ideal either. As well, in this economy, knowing that their are many families struggling financially, the prices for a simple beverage was ridiculous! I especially was annoyed to have paid $8 for was advertised as “fresh squeezed lemonade”, when it was actually Country Time Lemonade” powder. Which the vendor didn’t hide well, considering they had stacks of canisters stacked behind them.

The only thing that saved it from being a total disappointment was the band Train. They were fantastic!
