Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
its about time. that vip deal sounds too good to be true
THATS RIGHT THE WAIT IS OVA!! ITS ON THIS WEEKEND…ARENT U TIRED OF THE SAME OLE SAME OLE CLUBS? COME OUT AND KICK IT!
I can only guess what this place will be like. Sounds like itll be one of those short lived clubs that will be shut down by winter. The only club that has been able to withstand St. Louis is Pepper Lounge. I am sure this is Lure with a new wall color, same ole thing they did to Luckys, Lure, and what ever it was before that. Raggedy is what itll be and who are SLIM and his NBA friends, really thats how he is advertising. Get outta here with that.
“shut it down”… get your facts right, the story cites “lush” as the former club, not Lure. Lush is on Olive close to Mid-town and Lure is on Washington. Although I don’t entirely disagree with your assessment and forecast for the club- not fair to bash other club owners not associated with this new venue. It is my belief that SLIM and anyone trying to open businesses in and around downtown need to be commended. Assuming the club and those like it provide a safe enjoyable atmosphere for patrons this is a HUGE deal for a city staggering to find and maintain progress. SLIM has done a good job promoting himself and is not a fly-by-night promoter, been in the “scene” for a while and does a lot to promote our Midwest river town as a destination.
Kudos to reopening the place, but the venue is to big to sustain over time. I give it a year, hopefully I’m wrong, but as a veteran club goer going back over a decade, I’ve seen it time and time again……..
This place will be shut down by January. I sure some thug activity will occur. Also, why is Kevin Johnson in collusion with these clubs????
Not very many clubs have lasted or have made it to the 2 year mark and it’s a shame the “Upscale” club scene downtown can’t stay alive and the names/ownership have to change so often. 15 is one club I frequently go to, I enjoy the scene and feel safe while I’m there. I am also glad to see the old Landing bars/clubs making a come back and migrating over to the downtown area. It’s sad to say, but I’d give Karma no longer then May before it shuts down.
@ shut it down..its sounds like you are one of the reasons clubs dont last. Who cares if Lure changes its name 100 times as long as they provide a place for you to enjoy yourself. If its about the way the place looks i would suggest hanging out in a furniture store, a museum or the fabric lane in walmart. but if its about networking and having a good time you should frequent the few places this city has to offer. Last time i checked Club Home & Manadrin wasnt doing to great. I commend anyone who has the balls to open an estabishment in this city and even if this venture doesnt last at least they attemped. RIP to NECTAR, SKYBOX, and any other club that closed. GOOD LUCK KARMA…with ungrateful patrons like this you are going to need it!
F.y.i. i just looked the S.L.I.M. character up he seems to know his shit
I really wish St.Louis would change their mentality. This is the only city with no pride, so negative. Can we at least let the doors open before we make our predictions. Are you gonna go and at least give it a chance before you criticize? It’s so funny how everybody always wants to say what they ‘think’ NOBODY gets paid to think.
Best of Luck SLIM. I too agree with So St.Louis ..STl is soooooo full of haters. Please let the doors open before you make judgement. One more thing if you dont support then keep all and any negative comment to yourself. Its doesnt help anyone.
