Ludo steps out for side project the New Heathers
St. Louis rock band Ludo, currently in between albums, is stepping out for a side project, the New Heathers.
The New Heathers features three of the four Ludo members — Tim Ferrell on vocals and guitar, Tim Convy on keyboards, and Matt Palermo on drums.
Ferrell says “It all just kind of worked out. I was writing a lot of songs that didn’t really fit for Ludo. We finally had some time off and our singer, Andrew, wanted to spend some time at home before we put out the next Ludo album. Fortunately for me, the other guys were anxious to record and play some shows as well.”
The band took the name from one of Convy’s favorite movies, “Heathers.”
Ludo is also out promoting the re-release of its 2005 effort “Broken Bride,” and will perform at the Pageant Oct. 22.

Better get used to the New Heathers. Rumor is, Andrew isn’t just taking some time off…he’s leaving Ludo. He’s registered for school up in Chicago. At least that’s the word from the mill. Guess another “Yoko Ono” broke up a band that had alot of promise.
Sweet name. Not sure why you’d start rumors. But actually…
Ludo is playing a few shows this Fall. Andrew is taking classes in St. Louis because he dropped out of school to start Ludo and wants to get his degree while the band has time off. And during the time off, the Tims and Matt have worked on The New Heathers. This is what bands do when they have time off. They finish school and they work on other projects. Ludo has about 20 songs written for their next album which they begin recording in LA in January. And they’re going on tour next month.
