Poll: The verdict on Kris Allen’s new single

I’m the first to admit I was disappointed with Kris Allen’s win over Adam Lambert on “American Idol” this year, and wasn’t looking too forward to whatever new music Allen would produce.

Well, Allen’s new single “Live Like We’re Dying” is out, and I’m positively loving it.

The song is a cover originally done by the Script.

What do you think of “American Idol” Kris Allen’s new single “Live Like We’re Dying?”

Sounds nice, but Kris didn’t have any input in this song except singining it obviously. Why didn’t he get to release one of his own songs first?

My 12 year old could have written this song. Are you kidding me, what is there to like? That monotone melody or the lifeless chorus, boring. He better come up with something better than that.

A bit boring melodically don’t you think? And seriously, lyrics with a message? I would have liked to see something different from him considering I voted for him over 50 times! I do understand that it might not have been his idea to release this drivel so I’m remaining optimistic for the rest of the album.

I just am not a kris allen fan, sorry. If this song was done by someone with a powerful voice, i think i would like it a lot better.

This song is really catchy. I was disappointed when he won over Adam as well, but I gotta admit this single definitely surprised me. I think it’ll be a hit! Maybe I’ll consider buying his album after all.

This morning I was listening to KURB-FM (because I heard they were going to play it) and it came on, it made me well up with tears, I was just happy for Kris! Then they has people call in and say what they thought. I was so moved by the people’s comments. Apparently there was a huge rainbow in the sky when it came on and it was really beautiful. Good Luck Kris, can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

So the winner of American Idol releases a cover of another band’s song as his first release after spending the entire season doing covers of other people’s music. Nice, very nice.

Seriously, it’s catchy, and since there was a rainbow in the sky when it premiered, it will probably be a god given hit, but artistically it’s disappointing for something so lazy and generic from Allen.

Tim McGraw already released a song with this exact title and did a much better job of it. And no, before you country music bashers get going, I’m not *just* another country music fan. I like all types of music with the exception of rap.

couldn’t understand the lyrics. liked Tim Mcgraws song alot better. I’m a huge Kris Allen fan and I can’t believe that he chose this song for himself. If this was the first time ever hearing from Kris, I wouldn’t bother with his album.

The song is a cover? Kris is good at “covering” other songs (ie Heartless) but at this stage of the game, he needs to step it up and record original music. Let’s face it, whether you voted for Kris or Adam, you have an opinion who should have won Idol. But, the music world is very different from the Idol show. Adam is working with Lady Gaga’s producers and other top names that specialize is unique songs. Kris is getting mileage out of a release brought up in the context of “Kris winning over Adam.” When Adam’s music is released, the name Kris won’t need to be uttered for Adam’s music to get attention. Adam’s music will speak for itself.
