Europe nightclub keeps the party going on Washington
A few nightclubs are still carrying the torch along that corridor, including Lure, Sugar Lounge and now the new Europe.
Back in the day (2003 to 2006), Club Europe was holed up at 1521 Washington Avenue and used to bring in some of the dance-music industry’s top DJ talent.
“We’re considered a European nightclub, though we’re more Americanized now,” says Bobbi Vujevic, who is running the club with Jasmin Redzic. They were both involved with the original Club Europe.
The “Americanized” twist separates the spot from the old Club Europe. Redzic is of Bosnian descent, and Club Europe had a reputation for being a Bosnian club, which it wasn’t. But Bosnians were comfortable there, and the music sometimes learned that way.
“It had a really nice turnout of the Eastern European crowd,” Vujevic says. “But some people would come in and ask, ‘Can you play something other than a Bosnian song?’ ”
Though Club Europe did well, the rent became too high and it closed, with the owners figuring they’d reopen at some point (now literally around the corner).
Redzic’s wife and Vujevic’s husband bought the building on 15th Street for their spouses to turn into the new club.
“Being back is refreshing,” Vujevic says. “It’s something different, something new. We’re trying to attract loft residents, and we’re open to everybody. We don’t want anyone thinking we’re a certain kind of club. We’re playing more pop and Top 40 and hip-hop. It’s a lot more of a big melting pot.”
The main level of Europe, largely decorated in stark red finishes and wood beams painted black, in some ways resembles a hip firehouse. The large mezzanine wraps around the main room and is lined with circular VIP booths and another bar. “I like the openness of the club, and the fact there’s not a lot of clubs in St. Louis that look like this,” says Vujevic.
Here’s the rundown at Europe:
• Salsa lessons are at 8 p.m. Tuesdays with an open floor at 9 p.m.
• Women drink free on Thursdays with a $10 cover.
• Fridays feature music from the ’70s to today.
• Saturday Soiree is a mix of Top 40 hits and music from around the world.
• Halloween comes early with a Seductive Saints Party and costume contest Friday. A full-blown Halloween party and costume contest is set for Oct. 31.

So these people are from Bosnia,so how much free or low interest loans via
US taxpayers have they been getting when Taxpaying Native Born Citizens
receive little to none ??
Break out the La Bouche cd’s and the pastel suits..it’s party time!
Wonder123 - WAAAA!! Go fix the gunrack on your 4×4.
YourMom-so you don’t know either, right?
The only time in my life that I ever felt discriminated against was at Europe back around 2005/2006. A bunch of my friends all went to hear a top DJ and we could not buy a drink for our lives from the Bosnian bartenders, they would literally take orders from Bosnians behind us and pass them over our heads. I know, I know…. its tough being a non-Bosnian white guy in STL, but still, it was blatent discrimination and we would only go back if a top DJ came through.
Awwww…dont hate on 4×4 and gunracks;) If you all the read the article…you would notice that the doors are open for everyone. You cannot say we are Bosnian b/c one of the owners is Bosnian. If that’s the case it would be Italian b/c my family is from Italy or Croatian b/c my husbands background in Croatian. Sorry you were disrespected Merry Can. I was simply a bartender at the time…I guess I was off that night? And for you wonderwoman…we were born and raised in the lou, graduated from Saint Louis University and pursued the “American Dream”. Thank you all for the comments…I would love to buy you all a drink if you come in but do not expect to hear La Bouche and please… leave the pastel suits at home.
Merry Can you probably work for another club in downtown and trying to confuse our costumers with false information since half of my staff before are Americans and Bosnians and Croats who work for me speak fluent English and for wonder123 what are you talking about. When you find the bank with no interest let me know I will love to refinance or got lower rate.
Don’t understand some people here hate Europe or they are just jelous ,but they still listen european DJ’s.
PS: Native Born Citizens hmm what is that about
No loans for rednecks
Brian how about Tiesto,Paul Van Dyke,Paul Oakenfold,Ferry Corsten,David Guetta etc..
wonder123 & A Merry Can is correct the regular person cant get a loan but bosnians get them from anyone. It is a joke and they are also. They do discriminate if you are not bosnian you are a dumb Americaner as they say and dont know anything. I hate them and I love to fix up my 4×4 gun rack and make sure I am ready for them. The funny thing about them bosnians is they are all 90% pure and true muslums, that hate Americans just the same way the ones in the Sand Box hate us Americans. They do and follow the same Religon as the BIN LADEN and think and beleve the same as he does and Hate the Western Culture & what we think about God and Jesus. I would not go to europe just becasue of that Oh and that I hate Bosnians. I give them a year or so and they will be closed like all of the other bosnian bs bars. What a Joke
