Sheryl Crow’s Grammy-winning 1993 breakthrough album “Tuesday Night Music Club” makes a comeback on Tuesday.

It’s reissued in a special deluxe edition with three discs — the original CD, a CD of outtakes and previously unreleased material, and a DVD with videos and a documentary.

Revisiting “Tuesday Night Music Club” prompted me to ponder my favorite song from the CD, and for me it’s definitely not “All I Wanna Do,” the biggest song from the album.

I always found “All I Wanna Do” annoying to no end, but continue to have major soft spot for the beautiful “Strong Enough.”

Look for more on “Tuesday Night Music Club,” from its significance to its controversies to more details on the reissue, in Sunday’s Post-Dispatch.

What’s your favorite song from Sheryl Crow’s “Tuesday Night Music Club?”

HMD: “Killer Life” is an outtake from her second album (Sheryl Crow) and it was written in 1995.

Kevin Gilbert was the true genius behind TNMC. Read the lyrics to Leaving Miss Broadway http://www.kevingilbert.com/lyrics_pages/missbroadway.htm to get a better picture of the real Sheryl Crow.

Hey Kevin,

Glad to see that you liked “Strong Enough” - another of the songs on the album written mainly by Kevin Gilbert. He performed it live many times in his solo shows.

As for Sheryl Crow (aka “Miss Broadway”), she was not a part of the original TNMC. She was Kevin Gilbert’s girlfriend at the time and he brought her into the sessions. The other members of the TNMC were not happy about this either.

SteveMTNO: “another of the songs on the album written mainly by Kevin Gilbert”

That’s incorrect.

Despite appearances, the creation process was an effort beyond the informal weekly meetings. In fact, according to Bill Bottrell (the producer), only “Leaving Las Vegas” and “Strong Enough” represent the true collaborative nature of the early Tuesday Music Collective sessions.

“Strong Enough” and “Leaving Las Vegas” were CO-written along with Crow, Baerwald, MacLeod and Schwartz during a tuesday night session.

“Run Baby Run” wasn’t TMC. That song came out from a session with Sheryl Crow, David Baerwald and Bill Bottrell. Again, “What I Can Do For You” was a song pre-TMC sessions, composed separately by Sheryl and David Baerwald in Venice Beach, and completed at Toad Hall Studio (Pasadena) along with Mr. Bottrell. “I Shall Believe” and “Can’t Cry Anymore” were originated by Sheryl and then completed by her and Bill.

Plus, Bill Bottrell has recently stated that: “The truth is hard to describe, but it lies between what all the people were shouting. It was all very vague and very complicated. She wrote the majority of the album. The guys and I contributed writing and lyrics, including some personal things. However, the sound was the sound that I developed.” (New York Times, February 5, 2008)

Jack: “That’s incorrect.”

I’ve seen Bottrell’s comments disputed by the other members of the TMNC (sorry, I don’t have time to dig up sources right now). Since I don’t personally know the musicians involved (and I’m assuming that you don’t either), I guess it just depends on who you choose to believe.

Since I was a KG fan long before Miss Broadway entered into the picture, I choose to go with the info at the link I posted above.

Your mileage may vary…
