Quick online access to events, dining and bars

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

When we launched the redesign of STLtoday in May, we had hopes that we could give readers fast access from the home page to the best events, the hottest clubs and the coolest restaurants.

Since the launch, we’ve done a little tweaking with that section of the home page. Take a look and let us know what you think. Our first pass was a little thin, and it added too much weight to the home page. We’ve slimmed it down, but beefed up the content.

Check the center of the home page, just below the “Community Voices” section. You’ll see a block with three tabs — Top Picks, Restaurants and Bars.

The Top Picks tab shows you a quick highlight from one of the best events happening in town today — along with a link to more Best Bets. It also includes a link to the online calendar, so you can find any event going on by date, genre and more.

The Restaurants tab shows some of the latest reviews we’ve posted for St. Louis eateries, along with a link to the restaurant search.

The Bars tab highlights the latest from our club expert and Blender blogger Kevin Johnson — again, with a link to the complete bar and music scene.

I don’t know what the old site was like, but this one is very nice!

I have a where do I find question…
Can you help me find a list of editors to send a press release for an Entertainment and Nightlife event? I am in San Diego, so I don’t have any papers handy and I’m working from the internet and don’t really know the paper well or the appropriate contacts.

Casual Cabaret, with Stellie Siteman and Barbara Parker Helmer is opening at the new Kranzberg Art Center on Saturday, August 30 and I need to make sure not to miss any important contacts to send a press release.

Also how does one get a listing it in your online calendar?

I think I have found what I need for Suburban Journals, but who else have you got via STLToday.com that you can suggest I send out information to?

Thanks so much for you help
Good luck with your new website/community
Looking forward to coming home to St. Louis for the opening of the Kranzberg Art Center and Casual Cabaret!
Have fun!

I find the redesign to be opaque to the point of total uselessness. I read a lot of papers, and STL-Today is, hands down, the least easy to use.
