No offense meant, Arnold Water Park

Hazelwood has opened a new aquatic center, so the Metro editors on duty yesterday decided to use the occasion to tell readers about municipal water parks throughout the area.

We compiled a list and located 15 on a map on Monday’s Metro section front.

A reader in Jefferson County complained that the city of Arnold was left out.

How is the water Park in Arnold not included in the map or in the count of 15 soon to be 16 such places in the region? I can see leaving out Farmington, but if O’Fallon and Collinsville are included Arnold ought to be, shouldn’t it?”

Yep.

Turns out, we missed some others.  This correction is running on Page A2 tomorrow:

“A story and graphic in Monday’s Post-Dispatch omitted some municipally-owned water parks. Chesterfield Family Aquatic Park is located at 16365 Lydia Hill Drive. The Arnold Recreation Center is located at 1695 Missouri State Road. Webster Groves Recreation Complex Aquatic Center is located at 33 East Glendale Avenue. Wood River Aquatic Center is at 670 Whitelaw Avenue, Wood River. In addition, Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center is at 403 Civic Park Drive, O’Fallon, Mo.”  In compiling the list, our news researchers used municipalities that were registered with the World Waterpark Association or that we had previously written about.  It wasn’t a complete list, so the map carried this disclaimer: “Some municipal water parks.”The lack of completeness wasn’t conveyed to the author of the story, who said there are 15 municipal water parks in the area, soon to be 16.  Thanks to the Arnold reader,  the correction Tuesday will provide more names.
