Does anyone still call the airport Lambert Field?
As stated in an earlier item, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch continues to prefer Highway 40 because we think that’s what most people around here say. (Polling so far supports that view.)
But we probably held onto one name as our newspaper’s official style long after most residents gave it up. It was just over a year ago that the paper stopped calling the airport “Lambert Field.”
We switched style to match the official name: Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. On second reference, Lambert or Lambert Airport is okay. (In truth, most residents probably say “the airport” or “Lambert.”)

Steve Parker is the deputy managing editor for news, and oversees the Post-Dispatch's front page. STLtoday's online news editors are on his newsroom team. Parker has been at the paper since September 1980.
I will continue to call it Lambert until nobody knows what I’m talking about.
