So you’re hosting an event and you want to invite the public?  Here are some more tips to get the best results from your listing at STLtoday.com. You’ll have a lot of competition - readers like you are submitting from 100 to 500 events each day through our new events calendar
Here are 7 ways to make sure your event doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.

1. Be descriptive in the Event Name, but not overly descriptive. You don’t need to put the venue or time in the Event name but you can add description of the event. Wrong: “Trivia night at the Elk’s Lodge”. Right: “Trivia night to benefit disheartend Big Red fans.”

2. Select categories. Again, try to find two of the most specific categories as possible. Choosing a specific listing (ie “golf”) automatically includes you in the general listing in that area (ie “sports). So if you had a golf scramble that was a fundraiser for animal shelters, you might choose “golf” and “pets”.

3. If it’s a kids or family event, be sure to use the “age suitability” tab.  Many people search for events that are “all ages.”

4. In the keywords field, add phrases that you think people would search for. Trivia, Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras are three recent examples.

5. If your event has a web site, include a link to it. It will help increase traffic to the site and to the listing on STLtoday.

6. If you have a photo of the event, include that as well. Nothing will draw a crowd to an event like seeing other beautiful.

7. And finally, if you really want to call attention to your listing, you can pay to have it enhanced. The price starts as low as $9.95 and packages could include videos and your logo.

In general, the more thorough you are in filling out information about your event, the better results you will get from it.
