Too little on the Kennedy endorsements?

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

A reader today told me he thought we undercovered the endorsements of Obama by Ted and Caroline Kennedy.

He missed the small items that ran  inside Sunday’s and Monday’s main news sections.  On Page A11 Sunday,  midway down the “candidate updates” column, we reported that Caroline Kennedy had endorsed Obama in a New York Times op-ed piece. On Page A3 Monday,  toward the bottom of  the “campaign notes” column, we reported that Ted Kennedy confirmed Sunday that he was going to endorse Obama.

And today, on Page A3, we ran a 4-column photo of Obama and Ted Kennedy parading the endorsement before cameras on Monday at American U. in Washington. An item about the endorsement led the “candidate updates” column.

A reader today called to say that we underplayed the endorsements. He saw it covered very prominently on TV news Monday, and suggested we missed the boat by not putting it on the front page.

Ironic that his question on undercovering Obama comes just one day after the criticism of our  ”rock star” coverage of Obama on Sunday.

Why do you ignore Ron Paul? Does he scare you all? There are millions of people who are fed up with the direction this country is heading. He is the only hope for America

I am off-topic for these two items. Please forgive me.

I would like the P-D to interview Todd Akin, Republican-Plaza Frontenac, regarding his choice for President in his party.

Another note: this past weekend in the P-D, an item from “various news sources” described waterboarding as being possibly an “illegal form of torture.” My question is: what forms of torture are legal? Either this is poor writing, poor editing, or fundamental lack of smarts on someone’s part. It would be helpful if the P-D would attribute more fully its sources. Thank you.

Yes, Jeff, a delusional man running for president does scare me. Sorry to have to tell you that.
Also, Obama will president in ‘08. The election is over. I think a black president named Barack Hussein Obama will be awesome for our country. I look forward to him being our next president.
