Owners of the standard shooter “Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3″ from Xbox Live Arcade, listen up: There’s a special offer available to you Wednesday.

It’s the new “Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix,” publisher Capcom Entertainment said in an announcement Tuesday. Capcom explained that it’s offering the game in beta form primarily to test network stress levels regarding HD multiplayer traffic on Xbox Live. (The same offer isn’t available through PlayStation Network, however; Capcom did not explain why.)

The beta offer comes in response to criticism of another online title in the same vein, “Street Fighting II: Hyper Fighting,” which suffered from sluggish online play. Capcom said it hopes the beta testing helps this latest title avoid similar problems.

Although use of the beta is unlimited, it will be available for just eight weeks, Capcom said.

To take part in the offer, one must already have purchased “Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3″ or buy it now through Xbox Live Arcade for 800 MS points, then select the “SFII HD Remix Beta” option on the “Commando 3″ main menu and follow the download instructions.

During play, gamers adopt just one of two “Super Street Fighter II” personalities, Ryu or Ken, who battle in at least two match modes and a tournament-play mode.
