A few things worth knowing about the Internet

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

As the site’ name implies, these are rather neat — “neat” in the 1960s sense of the word: They are 10 things everyone should know about the Internet.

Game Guy veers away from his usual fare and mentions this because, well, more of us are playing games online now, instead of just using the ‘Net for e-mail and porn. And despite our increasing dependence on the ‘Net, few folks know where it originated and why it evolved as it has.

Of course, the same information is on Wikipedia — everyone’s favorite source of unfettered truth and wisdom — but Neatorama’s version is more concise. Which is an important consideration when you’re too busy writing e-mail or downloading porn.

(As a courtesy, we would have recommended Neatorama’s piece to Alaska Sen. Ted “The Internet Is a Series of Tubes” Stevens, but he appears busy at the moment.)
