No Moranis, no problem, eh?
Whatta shame! Former actor Rick Moranis says he’s not interested in lending his voice to the upcoming “Ghostbusters” video game. Rumor has it he’s so well off now after his work in such movies as “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” that he no longer needs film or game roles to pay bills.
If that’s the reason, Game Guy gives Moranis credit for bowing out and staying out regardless of the potential paycheck. Shows strength of character — something seen by many moviegoers as lacking in Hollywood.
But, darn it all. This “Ghostbusters” game, unlike others, is being written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, the men behind the script for the original film, and the game supposedly will enlist other movie alumni such as Bill Murray, Brian Doyle-Murray, Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson. If there ever was an opportunity to round up the whole gang again, this appeared to be it. (Sigourney Weaver, don’t let us down.)
Of course, we’re talking about a movie that first showed 24 years ago, before much of the current gaming crowd even knew what a Gozer was. Perhaps then, Moranis won’t be missed — at least by anyone who can’t remember back to 1984.
The game, due out in October, is slated to show up on all major gaming consoles.
