‘Wii Sports’ tourney coming to local Blockbuster store
David Sheets
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Get your wand hands ready and loosen up those wrists, folks. A Blockbuster store in Midtown is inviting families to come in for a free “Wii Sports” tournament next weekend.

The playtime party goes from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the store, 4177 Lindell Boulevard, and pits teams of two to six players against each other in the “Wii Sports” events of baseball, bowling, boxing, golf and tennis. Winning teams in each event will receive Olympics-style medals and stand on a podium to pose for photos.

Though there’s no fee for entry, registration is first come, first served on the day of the tournament, according to a Blockbuster announcement. This family get-together is one of at least 10 Blockbuster is sponsoring around the country.

And to help folks get into the spirit of Saturday’s games, Blockbuster will offer a “Family Gaming Pack” containing a dry-erase scoreboard, a megaphone that doubles as a popcorn bowl, noise makers, and temporary tattoos, all bundled up in a nice drawstring tote bag. The pack is available with game purchases of $49.99 or more.
