Dead Space logoAll you necromancers listen up: “Dead Space” is coming alive earlier than previously scheduled.

Though slated to debut for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on Oct. 21, now “Dead Space” is due out Oct. 14, according to game publisher Electronic Arts. The PC version ships Oct. 20.

EA didn’t offer an explanation for the move-up in its news release this week, other than to give the game’s fans an early Halloween gift — which Game Guy supposes is explanation enough.

In “Dead Space,” gamers slip into the role of Isaac Clarke, an interstellar engineer assigned to conduct repairs on disabled space freighter but who is distracted mightily by polymorphic aliens called Necromorphs with a penchant for dismemberment. Clarke also has to rescue a mysterious alien artifact while battling these beasties.

Oh, and because Clarke’s an engineer who stumbles upon carnage, he isn’t armed to the teeth. Instead, he must improvise weapons against the Necromorphs — which don’t always stay dead when you kill them.

Sounds like more fun than a bag of trick-or-treat candy.
