‘Dead Space’ demo available Tuesday
Not sure whether you want to pay cash for a bunch of angry Necromorphs?
No worries — a free demo of “Dead Space,” the survival/horror shooter, becomes available Tuesday on the PlayStation Network Store and Xbox Live Marketplace. However, game publisher Electronic Arts makes no mention of a demo distribution for PC players.
“Dead Space” depicts the trials of Isaac Clarke, an engineer stuck aboard an interstellar mining ship overrun with Necromorphs — humans infected and transformed by an alien infestation. He’s trying to figure out what happened to both the ship and his girlfriend, Nicole, who was stationed aboard as a medical specialist.
This is another of those spookfests — “Left 4 Dead” and “BioShock” among them –designed to give you willies as much as entertain you. So try the demo if you’re not sure whether Necromorphs are your thing. Be warned, though: It’s not named a “dismemberment demo” for nothing.
