The rumors turned out to be true. Game publisher Atari really is committing to a “Ghostbusters” game for multiple platforms to appear next year.

Film star and “Ghostbusters” alumnus Dan Aykroyd spilled the beans last month during a radio interview, perhaps to comfort those who were irked by Activision Blizzard dropping development suddenly during the summer. Atari didn’t back Aykroyd up until publishing a statement about the release early today.

If this project truly comes to fruition this time, it will debut in concert with the 25th anniversary of the blockbuster movie. Original cast members including Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts supposedly have promised to contribute their voices.
