Game Conference Game: Old-fashioned fun

To the right of this post and down a little on the page, the Game Guy has tried adding a few “Just for Fun” items — links to online games that help wile away the hours. One we found recently, and posted elsewhere online, is the Game Conference Game, an old-fashioned time-waster converted to Flash format.

GCG supposedly was made by the now-defunct group ARPAnet Superstars — ARPAnet predates the Internet — back in the 1970s and the days of the Commodore 64. The game depicts a small-time developer’s quest for recognition, funding and endorsements at a game conference, and was thought to have been extinct just a few years ago.

Someone found a copy however and revived it at Internet-Superstars.com. Even better, ad revenue from the site goes to Child’s Play, a charity that brings toys and games to children’s hospitals nationwide.
