Something to look forward to in June: ‘Ghostbusters’
It was getting to the point that it seemed “Ghostbusters” never would materialize out of the ether. The cult-favorite film was becoming a disappointment in the gaming world, suffering delay after delay.
Now, it appears there’s a firm release date. Sony Pictures and gamemaker Atari are saying “Ghostbusters: The Video Game” will appear in tangible form June 16 at the same time Sony releases a 25th-anniversary remastering of the movie on Blu-ray.
Though there have been other “Ghostbuster”-type games, this newest one is generating special attention by bringing together all the main characters — Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson — for the first time in game-length voice overs. The plot of the game is said to open two years after the story line of the somewhat less-appealing “Ghostbusters II” movie sequel.
This time though, the Ghostbusters aren’t just battling ectomorphic baddies; they’re taking the fight straight to Hell itself. Which is good, because that’s where I thought the future of this franchise would end up had Atari not stepped in.

My PS3 or 360 can’t wait. I might get the Wii version, too, as it’s supposed to be different (as is the PS2 version) than the PS3/360 ones.
