Tell us if your Xbox 360 crashed after latest update
David Sheets
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

A number of blogs and forums are reporting that owners of Xbox 360s have experienced system crashes this week after installing an automatic dashboard update issued by Microsoft.

The update prompt, like most others, generally appears the first time Xbox is started up and warns that gamers can’t log onto the Xbox Live media service without it. Soon after the update, however, the dreaded “red ring of death” has appeared.

The problem began appearing the same week Microsoft discontinued a warranty for replacement of launch-day Xboxes suffering from chronic breakdowns. Now, it’ll cost owners between $99 and $119 to process repairs.

Let Game Guy know if you’re among the unlucky ones affected by this latest problem.

For the record, Game Guy installed the update a couple days ago and, so far, hasn’t experienced any problems. (He rolls with an Xbox 360 Elite.)
