Apple TV to become more Wii-like?

Apple Insider found this first and PC World ran with it, but the discovery bears repeating here: Apple appears to have a patent filing for a computer remote that works like the controller for Nintendo’s Wii.
The tool may be a tie-in with Apple TV, a digital media receiver that has received a lukewarm response from the buying public, compared to other Apple products such as iPhone and iPod. Adding a motion-sensitive wand may change that and put Apple TV on course to becoming a game console.
If that’s the case, then I wonder what Nintendo’s doing to keep Wii out in front? Any of you have an idea, please let Game Guy know.
