Frustration level rising with Xbox 360?

See this? It could be just the start of your problems.

Just back from a company-induced work furlough, the Game Guy was sifting through his heap of mail collected during this time when he spied this item: Apparently, Microsoft is getting picky over packaging for returned Xbox 360s suffering from RROD.

The chronic RROD has afflicted Xboxes since their inception, and no amount of tinkering on Microsoft’s part seems to have effected a cure. MS sought to assuage customer angst by instituting a repair/replacement program, which recently expired. The program included return packaging for safe transportation of the damaged devices.

But now, the Xbox-focused site kombo.com says RROD sufferers are being told they must return balky Xboxes in something like the original packaging, and woe to anyone who doesn’t, because now maybe MS can claim the fault in the machine resulted from an owner’s bad wrapping job.

Game Guy hasn’t heard much about this; in truth, this may be an isolated case. But please let him know if you, too, are getting the bum’s rush for the homemade wrapping around your bad box.

This was a BS statement that MS just cleared up. MS always gives the option to ship you the box and shipping label. Just someone from the Sony Defense Force doing the usual.

Insert Crap Here ^^^

A) The RROD warranty didn’t expire. The first run units are just coming out of the 4 year warranty provided for the RROD. So that’s a lie.

B) When you call in an RROD, Microsoft still sends you a box to pack it in. As well as instructions to remove your faceplate and hard drive. So that’s a lie too. Don’t believe me? Give them a call.

C) Kombo.com is not in any way a 360 focused site. Unless you call bashing the 360 while cherishing the five games they play on their PS3 a 360 “focused site”.

Lie. Lie. Lie.

3 years on my XBOX360 - no RROD yet…

Only PS3 fanatics even talk about RROD. The rest of us just enjoy playing the games that X360 seems to have an abundance of.

My 13 month old 360 is currently off for repaired because it died on me. Worse part, I had to pay for it. It died two weeks after the one year warranty expired and the issue I had isn’t covered by there three year RROD warranty. That only covers errors with four red lights, mine only had one red light. Either way, it didn’t work. I love my 360, but the truth is the truth, it is a cheaply made piece of junk.

Or, you could stop wasting time and money on this junk and read a book.

yeah, like one of those mind-enriching novels in the nancy drew series, right? give me a break. do you watch TV? becuase if you do, you’re a hypocrite. re: don, your case might be different, since you did NOT have a “red ring of death” malfunction. the way i understand it, this specialty service of providing free shipping and repairs was to resolve the unusually large amounts of RROD malfunctions the xbox was having. if yours did not have that problem, it’s very possible that it was routed to a different, “normal” warranty department. it’s also possible that this department makes you provide your own shipping. i could see microsoft wanting to solve the RROD issue as quickly as possible while saving the most face as possible, thus free box for shipping, free shipping etc.

I’ve had a 360 since launch. I actually bought two of them. Both of them had this problem. Microsoft’s handling of this issue couldn’t have been easier. This is by far the best console I’ve ever owned and even with the problems with the early consoles, people keep coming back. It’s that good. Xbox live is the best service. I’m very impressed.

Starting having Disc read error issues and was told to send it into Microsoft. Rather than do that I just bit the bullet and bought a PS3 (which I was originally a Playstaion user prior to Xbox)and have never regreted it. The game quality to me is exceptional in comparison to Xbox.
